The seminar on “Cultural Materialism of Ancient Northeast India” aims to delve into the intricate layers of Cultural Materialism in the context of Ancient Northeast India, exploring the material aspects that have shaped its identity over centuries. This region, often referred to as the “Seven Sisters,” is a mosaic of diverse cultures, languages, cultural dialects, and ethnicities, each contributing to the rich tapestry of the Indian subcontinent. By employing the lens of ‘Cultural Materialism,’ we seek to unearth the material aspects that shape and define the cultural identity and unique geographical and cultural landscape of Ancient Northeast India.
The seminar will feature presentations by scholars, archaeologists, historians, linguists, anthropologists, art historians, sociologists, and experts in the field. Interactive panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and visual presentations will enhance the engagement of participants.
Expected Outcomes:
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the material foundations of Ancient Northeast India, fostering appreciation for the region’s cultural diversity and historical significance. The seminar aims to contribute to ongoing research and conservation efforts while promoting interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars and enthusiasts. After successfully completing the seminar, the Pragjyotish Centre for Cultural Research (PCCR) will publish the papers in a book proceeding with ISBN.
